Confectionery: Valentine's Special is a proposal to the future. It is a wish to find authenticity in this overwhelmingly capitalistic world. In 1785, a love-sick Prince George of Wales sent his beloved, controversially widowed Maria a portrait of his right eye, a facet of himself, as a marriage proposal. I inlaid commercially pervasive Hershey's Kisses packaging onto eye miniature as a truth-seeking exploration into my authentic identity within the capitalist world. In combination with my memories elicited by these objects, this piece is a declaration of myself as a "label" within a mass-produced world.
